Abbey Road plays at Sweetwater Music Hall on October 17

MILL VALLEY (10/12/2012): Looking to hear some live music this week? Nationally touring Beatles band, Abbey Road, performs at the Sweetwater Music Hall on Wednesday, October 17. With their tight harmonies, flawless note for note renditions of Beatles hits, custom–tailored costumes, vintage instruments, Liverpudlian dialect and precise attention to every detail, Abbey Road has honed their show to become one of the most musically and visually satisfying Beatle tribute acts in the world. Abbey Road recreates the magic, music, wit and charm of the Beatles, including the Fab Four’s cheeky personalities, familiar onstage banter and patter between songs.

The band members are age appropriate for the Beatles (22 – 32 years of age) and are played by Chris Paul Overall (“Paul”), Gregory Wilmot (“John”), Jesse Wilder (“George”) and Axel Clarke (“Ringo”).

Question: How did the band get together?
Clarke: We auditioned with more than 200 musicians, most of whom showed up in costume, wigs, fake moustaches and in character.
Wilder: It was like a Saturday Night Live skit. All of the “Pauls” were trying to out-Paul each other. The “Johns” were sulking around.
Clarke: And the “Ringos” were off in the corners by themselves.

Why the Beatles?
Overall: The Beatles are by far the most popular tribute act in the country. The Beatles still sell as many records as any current bands.
Clarke: The Beatles were the greatest band of all times and they only played live concerts for a few years in America. Our shows give people a chance to revisit their inner teenager for a couple hours.
Wilder: The Beatles also have cross generational appeal – grandparents come to our shows with their grandkids.

Question: What can people expect when they come out to the show?
Overall: Concert attendees can expect an amazing three costume change show. We begin with mop top haircuts and “Sullivan” suits and show the progression of the Beatles through the Sgt. Pepper era and beyond.
Wilder: We take a 12 minute break in the middle of the show to grow mustaches and long hair. It’s really quite remarkable.
